2018 Annual Christmas Single from Sofia Talvik

Every year Swedish artist Sofia Talvik writes a Christmas song to her fans. This year the title of the song is “Poem At Year’s End”

Sofia Talvik asked her fans what they thought she should write about this year, and many wanted something political.

“To be honest that made me feel exhausted” says Sofia. ”There has been so much politics, and so many fights the last few years that the last thing I wanted to do was to write a political Christmas song. So instead I decided to write something that everyone could listen to and enjoy with an open heart, and a calm mind. This is nothing more than a poem about the end of the year, and that is why I called it ”Poem At Year’s End”

The beautiful cello harmonies by David Floer, and soaring horns by Tim Fleming makes you think about 60’s folk songs, like the tunes of Nick Drake. Sofia’s angelic voice is bearing the tale about the passing of the year.

New release from Sofia Talvik – When Winter Comes – A Christmas Album

When Winter Comes Album Cover

For over 10 years Sofia has made it her tradition to write and release a free Christmas single every year. This year she has re-imagined, re-recorded, re-mixed and re-mastered these songs to make them come together as an album. This album is so unique, not just because 13 of the 14 songs are originals but because the songs focus on the darker side of Christmas, something you don’t hear that often in Christmas music.

2016 Annual Christmas Single from Sofia Talvik

When It Rains On Christmas Day - Album Cover

For the 11th year in a row Swedish folk/Americana artist Sofia Talvik is keeping up her tradition of releasing a free Christmas single.

’When it Rains on Christmas Day’ won’t fill you with that cheery ’Jingle Bells’ Christmas feeling. Quite the opposite, Sofia stays true to her tradition to explore the darker side of the Holiday.

The yearly Christmas single is released! Get it here now!

Soft keys and soaring pedal steel guitar bring the melody forward and lift Sofia’s voice as the true feature of the song. Things don’t always end the way you picture them, or the way you would wish them to. Looking out from that window on Christmas Day, will it be a winter-wonder-land or a dark rainy day? Will you be with your loved one, or will you be alone?

The lyrics carry the story forward as the song culminates in a carol-like chorus bringing us all the way back in to the churches of the old days with their towering ceilings filled with music. This tasteful production will remind you of Ryan Adam’s Shadowlands and bring your thoughts to Kate Bush’s etherial piano songs, like ’This Woman’s Work’.

Clothe Yourself For The Winter - Album Cover

Sofia Talvik releases her new single “Clothe Yourself For The Winter” in support for women in the U.S in the wake of the recent election.

“As a reaction to the recent events in the USA and the political climate world-wide I wrote this song, ’Clothe Yourself for the Winter’, using ’winter’ as a metaphor for the cold, harsh times we seem to be entering.

On that note I am putting this song out as a free download, but with the hope that you instead of paying me, will make a donation to Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood was founded on the revolutionary idea that women should have the information and care they need to live strong, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams — no ceilings, no limits.”

Christmas single from Sofia Talvik – 2015

Sofia Talvik - Cold Cold Feet - Single Cover

Makaki Music is proud to release the annual Christmas single from Sofia Talvik.

In her 2015 yearly Christmas single, Swedish Americana songstress Sofia Talvik takes on Bruce Springsteen, Jason Isbell and all the other men singing about the working man.

“It’s time to sing about the working woman” Talvik says.
The song is about a hard working single mother the day before Christmas, and her thoughts and longings about a better life for herself and her kids, trying to make the best of what she has.

Swedish folk meets Nashville in this new single which features a haunting violin played by Hanna Ekström and bright guitars by Sofia Talvik.
Talvik who releases a Christmas single every year has made it her trademark to sing about the less cheery part of the holiday season.
“This is my tribute to all hard working women out there”, Talvik says.

Merry Christmas!

“this Swedish singer/songwriter packs enough serious doses of emotion and catchy melodies to make put her on the industry buzz list in a big way and make her a trailblazer.” -lp33.tv

“her poignant songs had the audience enraptured” –aurgasmsxsw.us

“After listening to a few of her silky smooth tunes I was hooked.” -San Diego: dialed in

“Crafting delicate moments of peace on her acoustic guitar Sofia is independent in every sense of the word” –spinner.com

“our favorite Swedish Singer/Songwriter “ -cnt music
